The first rule is to go to The Wine Guy Wine Shop.  If that's not convenient, here are some basic rules.

 

Ask yourself a few simple questions about your friend, such as:

 

	Is there any wine that they’ve had that you remember they liked?
	Is there any wine that they’ve had that they didn’t like?
	Which does your friend prefer, whites or reds?
	Does your friend prefer sweet, mild or bold tasting wines?
	How adventurous is your friend to trying new things?

 

Often, simple questions like these will supply you the information you need to make a good choice.
